A list of age appropriate chores for children has left parents divided. The guide was posted on Facebook by popular parenting blogger Samantha Jokell. The simple list divides simple household chores into age categories ranging from two to 12 and above. But many parents found the list to be too extensive and some were concerned about nine-year-old kids mowing the lawn.

2-3 YEARS

Make bed

Pick up toys and books

Put laundry in hamper

Help feed pets

Help wipe up messes

Dust

4-5 YEARS

Clear/set table

Load dishwasher

Empty silverware from dishwasher

Take laundry to laundry room

Match socks and fold

Put away laundry

Straighten room

Get the newspaper/mail

6-8 YEARS

Empty dishwasher

Clean bathroom sinks and counters

Sort laundry by colors

Help pack school lunches

Pull weeds

Water plants/flowers

Collect trash from wastebaskets

9-11 YEARS

Clean toilets

Take trash to the curb

Vacuum

Mop floor

Mow grass

Food preparation (Wash, cut, dice, measure)

Walk pet

12+

Babysit siblings

Wash windows

Iron

Clean interior/exterior of car

Cook simple meals

Clean refrigerator

Make grocery list
