CIE Norfolk GNS, LLC is purchasing the Elkhorn Valley Ethanol Louis Dreyfus Plant at 3002 N. Victory Road in Norfolk.
At Tuesday’s Norfolk Planning Commission Meeting, CIE asked for a conditional use permit to operate the facility.
CIE Director of Business Development Brett Carey told the Commission they are dedicated 100% to ethanol production but plan additional growth.
Carey told WJAG News, “We are looking to diversify the back-end product of the sell. So, our focus will shift away from fuel ethanol into more specialty alcohol production. Spirits industry so beverage. Food and flavoring. Beauty personal care. More industrial applications.”
The growth means more job opportunities. Carey says they plan grow their staffing by 15% to 20%. Likely positions available will be in lab techs, operations, and maintenance staff.
The deal closing date is October 28th and Elkhorn Valley will continue to operate until the transfer.
The Planning Commission will prepare a Conditional Use Permit and take action at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
