Healthy Blue Donation

NORFOLK - Youth in Norfolk will be able to use the North Fork Area Transit service for free thanks to a $25,000 donation from Healthy Blue Nebraska.

At a press conference Thursday, it was announced the ‘Youth Ride Free’ program will include existing service on a first-come, first-serve basis and the new flex route bus service called ‘ForkLift’ starting this spring.

Norfolk Mayor Josh Moenning said they’ve seen a 255 percent increase in ridership over the last two years and a large portion of that increase has been youth.

"With this donation, those young people getting to where they need to be, will make their daily household life just a little bit less hectic. It's a huge boom to our quality of life in Norfolk."

Transit Manager Jeanne Doerneman said they’re thrilled to be able to partner with Healthy Blue Nebraska to provide the service to this community.
