Barbara Schmitz

NORFOLK - A well-known poet and author in the Norfolk Community will be at the Norfolk Public Library Tuesday evening for a poetry reading.

Library Director Jessica Chamberlain says Barbara Schmitz will be reading from her new poetry collection called “Sundown at Faith Regional”.

Chamberlain says Barbara is a long-time resident of Norfolk.

"She taught English literature and writing at Northeast Community College for 30 years and she has twice won the Nebraska Center for the Book Award for Poetry. She's been included in so many different writing collections and publications. She also published a memoir several years ago called "Path of Lightning", so she has lots of experience in writing not just poetry, but memoirs and other things as well."

Chamberlain says poetry can describe feelings and emotions that are universal in appeal, and part of how we experience life.

The free event is set for Tuesday evening at 6:30 at the library. Masks are recommended.
