Green Leaf Award

NORFOLK - For the past nine years, the Norfolk Tree Advisory Board Green Leaf Award has highlighted numerous beautiful landscapes, and nominations are being sought again this year.

Liz Lienemann with the City of Norfolk says landscapes are judged based on what can be seen from the street.

"One of the key things the tree board looks for is that there's some kind of tree or trees involved in the landscaping. This award is a great way that we can show our appreciation to the citizens of Norfolk and for all they do to help beautify our community. It's an encouraging thing to be a part of, being able to recognize and acknowledge those citizens who put a lot of effort into our community."

Lienemann says the nomination deadline is Thursday September 30th and the winners will be announced at the October 18th City Council Meeting.

Submissions of a picture and/or letter of recommendation can be mailed to or dropped off at the City of Norfolk Offices at 309 North 5th Street.
