NORFOLK - A man was arrested by Norfolk Police last Thursday after assaulting a woman he wanted to be in a relationship with.
According to Captain Chad Reiman, officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of east Benjamin Avenue after a woman called police and reported that a man who she was acquainted with had just assaulted her.
During the investigation, officers learned that the subject was waiting in the hallway when the victim arrived home from work. He had wanted to be in a relationship with the victim, but she didn’t and had rebuffed his previous attempts.
The man pushed her into her apartment and demanded her phone. The victim refused so he punched her at least twice, with one to her face.
Officer checked the area, but were unable to find the suspect who was identified as 38-year-old Francis Walker of Norfolk.
While officers were on scene interviewing the victim, she received a phone call from Walker so officers were then able to locate Walker at his place of employment and arrest him for 3rd degree assault and 1st degree trespassing.
Walker was booked into the Norfolk City Jail and later transported to the Madison County Jail.
