The Girls State Golf Championships concluded yesterday across the state. At the Class ‘A’ Tournament at Norfolk Country Club, Lincoln Southwest is the state champion after carding a two-day 627. They won by 25 strokes. Columbus finished at 760. Nicole Kolbas of Lincoln Pius X is the state medalist after putting up a two-day 136. She won by six strokes. Columbus’ Sarah Lasso tied for sixth place at 155. At the Class ‘B’ event at Scotts Bluff Country Club in Scottsbluff, Elkhorn North is the state champion after shooting a two-day 677. They won by 19 strokes. Elkhorn North’s Emily Karmazin is the state medalist after carding a two-day 147. She won by six strokes.
At the Class ‘C’ Tournament at Elks Country Club in Columbus, Broken Bow is the state champion after shooting a two-day 719. They beat runner-up Columbus Scotus’ 745 by 26 strokes. West Point-Beemer got fourth place at 789, Laurel/Concord/Coleridge was tenth at 826, O’Neill took eleventh place at 836, and Fullerton carded an 873 to finish 13th. Columbus Scotus’ Cecilia Arndt is the state champion after shooting a two-day 157. She won by three strokes. West Point-Beemer’s Brook Diekemper placed fourth at 162 and Boone Central’s Taylor Beierman tied for 14th place at 182. 37 golfers from the Northeast Nebraska participated in the events.
