Norfolk High softball survives three elimination games to qualify for the State Tournament for the first time since 2006

The Norfolk High softball team has reached the State Tournament for the first time since 2006!  The Lady Panthers survived three elimination games, concluding it with a 13-2 rout of Omaha Marian in the ‘if necessary’ game.  Taylor Schmidt went 3-3 with two doubles and Emerson Waldow & Ava Borgman had two hits apiece to lead the eleven-hit attack.  Kierstyn Linn was the winning pitcher in the four inning victory.

Norfolk rallied past Omaha Marian in the first championship game 4-3 on a Miley Wichman two-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game.  The Lady Panthers opened the day with a 9-1 loss to Omaha Marian before routing Lincoln Southeast 10-2 to earn the right to play Marian again.  They are now 28-14 on the season.
